DURIAN
IN PUERTO PRINCESA.
One of the first
person to try planting durian in Puerto Princesa
City is Roy Rodriguez who also runs the first
butterfly garden in Palawan. He is showing here
his five-year-old Munthong durian with double
rootstock he bought from
Bernie Dizon. It had
fruited earlier this year and again it is
flowering. His rambutan with double rootstock
has also fruited two times this year. Most
people in Puerto Princesa believe that durian
will not thrive in the northern part of the
province, but Roy has proven them wrong. He
plans to plant more durian and rambutan trees in
his 24-hectare farm in Aborlon |
