FRUITING DURIAN IN SILANG

April 1999 , Agriculture Magazine

Durian grows well in Indang, Cavite. Proof is this four-year-old grafted Chanee durian which was heavy with flowers when the photo was taken last month (March 14). This particular tree is one of several trees planted by Dr. Ruperto S. Sangalang, president of the Cavite State University. It is in its second year of fruiting.

The Planting materials were supplied by Bernie Dizon (left) who

was also the source of other high-value fruits planted in Indang, including lychee, mangosteen and rambutan. With Dizon are Prof. Pedro F. Matel, in charge of the fruit tree project of CvSU, and lawyer Ernie Perez.
