One of the best varieties of rambutan is Rongrien,
according to Bernie Dizon. This is a variety from
Thailand which is suitable for canning. It has
crunchy fruits that are sweet and juicy. Grafted RongreIn trees will bear fruit in three years after
planting if cared for properly. Big planting
materials, however, will bear fruit in just one year
from planting. Small grafted trees that are very
affordable will be brought by
Bernie Dizon to the Magallanes Weekend Market this Saturday and Sunday.
These can be planted any time of the year. During
summer, however, they have to be adequately watered.
Available at DENR-PAWB-Dizon
Botanic Fruit Garden located at Ninoy Aquino
Parks and Wildlife Center, North Avenue, Diliman,
