Selected
fruit trees at CLSU Agri-Kapihan |
|
Among
the attractions during the Agri-Kapihan last week at the
Central Luzon State University in Nueva Ecija were the
selected fruit tree planting materials offered by Bernie
Dizon who was one of the speakers. These included the
Millennium Mango which is a hybrid produced by a
Chinese-Portuguese mestizo from Malacca several years ago
and which was brought to the Philippines by an orchid grower
in Antipolo City. The Millennium Mango produces big fruits,
one to three kilos each, which have excellent eating quality
as green mango and also as ripe fruit. Aside from mango
Dizon also brought grafted lychee and longan. About 80
farmers from different towns in Nueva Ecija as well as
Pangasinan attended the Agri-Kapihan where the latest
developments in fruit trees were discussed. By the way,
Dizon will also talk on fruit trees at another Agri-Kapihan
this Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Las Piñas Ever Gotesco Flea
Market along Zapote Road. It's open free to the public
